An Experimental and Analytical Study on Cross-Laminated Bamboo Rocking Walls with Friction Dampers

Cross-laminated bamboo (CLB) have a high strength to weight ratio and stable bidirectional mechanical properties. Inspired by the investigation on cross-laminated timber (CLT) rocking walls, CLB walls with conventional friction dampers (CFDs) are studied in this paper. To investigate properties of wall, seven tests conducted under cyclic loading scheme, different test parameters, including existence CFDs, moment ratio, times, discussed. The results show bilinear behavior wall. small residual displacements wall demonstrate an idealized self-centering capacity. cumulative energy dissipation curves indicate that capacity can be greatly improved CFDs. limit states lateral force proposed based strains, stress, damage level material posttensioned rebar. In addition, analytical model is developed evaluate hysteretic response validated experimental data. comparison potential value for engineering design.
